Our History

Our Beginning

The Ridpath family has a long history with insurance, serving the New River Valley and communities of Radford and Pulaski County since 1961. Owner Greg Ridpath’s father, Benny Ridpath, was among the first established agents for Nationwide in Radford and was passionate about serving his community with integrity.

The Legacy Continues

Greg shared his father’s passion and became an Associate agent under his father in 1989 after graduating from Virginia Tech. Greg branched out on his own in 1991, continuing the tradition of integrity and superior customer service that he and his father had worked so hard to build.

Today

Ridpath Insurance continues that tradition today. We are a full-service, independent insurance agency that exists to help our members find the coverage protection they need. We opened our South Carolina location in Mt. Pleasant in 2022.

Greg Ridpath
Greg RidpathOwner & Primary Agent
Greg graduated from Virginia Tech and became an Associate Agent in 1988. He worked with his father Benny Ridpath for four years before branching out on his own in 1991. Greg continues to uphold the family name with a high level of service to his members. In his free time, you will find Greg spending time with his family and giving back to our wonderful community.
Liza Ridpath
Liza RidpathOperations Manager
Liza graduated from SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music with a master’s in music education and was instrumental music teacher for 16 plus years in New York, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Upon moving to South Carolina, she stopped teaching to raise her three girls. It was during this time she met Greg and they were married in 2021. Because they love and care about this area so much, they decided to open a second insurance agency in Mount Pleasant, SC. She is working at Greg Ridpath Insurance Agency, Inc. full time as the operations manager. In her free time, she enjoys working out, running, and spending time with her family.
Heather Carmola
Heather CarmolaLicensed Agent/CSR
Heather joined our team in November 2023! She graduated from Le Moyne College with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and from Mansfield University with a Master’s in Information Technology and Library Science. She taught elementary school for 14 years in upstate New York. After getting married, she and her husband moved to Mount Pleasant, SC and she stayed at home to raise their son. Joining the team at Ridpath Insurance has been so rewarding because she is able to assist people with their insurance needs in the community she loves. In her free time Heather enjoys reading, traveling, volunteering at her son’s school and spending time with her family.
Grey Moore
Grey MooreLicensed Agent
Grey Moore joined our team in June 2022. He was born and raised in Charleston SC and recently graduated from Clemson University. He is currently a licensed agent here at Ridpath Insurance and started working for us full time in 2023. In his free time he enjoys playing golf, working with people, as well as traveling the world with friends and family.
Justin Decker
Justin DeckerCommercial Lines Sales Manager
Justin joined our team in May 2024! He graduated from East Carolina University in 2018 where he was the Treasurer of his fraternity Pi Kappa Phi and received a business degree with a dual concentration in Risk Management/Insurance and Finance. Before joining our team, Justin worked as a sales underwriter for The Hartford for 4 years and spent the last year and a half as a commercial producer for USI Insurance Services. In 2022, Justin joined the Ridpath family marrying Greg’s daughter Maddie in a beautiful ceremony in Asheville, NC. In his free time, he enjoys mountain biking, hiking, camping, and spending time with family.
Troy Forrest
Troy ForrestSales Agent
Troy joined our team in May 2024! He graduated from Samford University in 2017 where he was a student-athlete and received a degree in Exercise Science and minor in Business. He has a passion for helping others achieve success in all endeavors of life. Married Whitney in 2019 and they now have two beautiful kids, Avery, and Elijah. Troy moved from Birmingham, AL to Mount Pleasant, SC in 2022. In his free time, he enjoys exercise, family walks, and serving in his local church.
Elizabeth Rephan
Elizabeth RephanLicensed Agent/CSR
Elizabeth joined our team in June 2024. A Charleston native, she graduated from the College of Charleston with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. After working in real estate and mortgage, she transitioned to the insurance industry in 2010. She was drawn to Ridpath after seeing our agency highly recommended in the local community and wanted to be part of a team passionate about helping clients navigate their insurance needs in the Coastal area. In her free time, Elizabeth loves spending time on the boat with her family, attending her son’s soccer games, cheering on Gamecock football, gardening, and enjoying the beach.
Katherine Dunn
Katherine DunnAccount Manager/Sales Agent
We’re excited to welcome Katherine to the Ridpath Insurance Agency team! Originally from Northern Virginia, Katherine moved to Mount Pleasant, SC in 1994. With over 20 years of experience in customer service and sales, she’s been a licensed insurance agent since 2016. Before joining the insurance field, Katherine had a successful career in telecommunications.

Katherine is passionate about helping clients and believes every question or concern is important. She’s thrilled to be part of such a knowledgeable team at Ridpath Insurance Agency, where everyone is treated like family.

In her free time, Katherine enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her three children and four beloved dogs—Riley, Cash, Trevor, and Max. She’s a fan of college football (in a household divided between Clemson and Carolina!), loves live music, dancing, traveling, being on the water, and savoring great food. Katherine is also dedicated to volunteering, especially when it comes to helping animals in need.

Miller Ridpath
Miller RidpathAssociate Agent
Miller Ridpath joined our team in June 2024 after graduating from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He is excited to continue the tradition of excellent customer service and uphold the family name and values established by his grandfather and uncle. Outside of work, Miller enjoys live music, working out, watching Tennessee sports, and spending time with his family.

Also known as physical damage coverage, full coverage protects your vehicle against damage caused during an at-fault accident. You are required to carry at least state minimum liability limits, while physical damage is optional unless required by your bank when you finance a vehicle.

Your policy does extend to rental vehicles, but we recommend consulting your agent as some rental vehicles are excluded under policy contracts.

We offer a lot of discounts with many different carriers, but sometimes discounts only get you so far. We provide a comprehensive review each year for all of our members to make sure they are always getting the best rates.

A standard homeowner’s policy covers named perils, which means if the endorsement is not listed then you are not covered. Let us build you a custom policy today, so you don’t have to worry tomorrow.
